a windy château

As you can see from the banner on the right that the winds were quite impressive here a couple of weeks ago.  In spite of that, the clouds and the sun made for a nice photo op.  This is of course the château in Amboise.

  1. It is a beautiful chateau. And the sky nicely contrasts with it.

    1. Yeah, only the wind betrays that this was not a perfect day.

  2. Yes, we've had a bit of a windy autumn, haven't we?!
You are lucky to live in the garden of France surrounded by much more beautiful châteaux than Versailles (IMHO)!

    1. That is a very kind commentary on the châteaux of the Loire valley, but I have not seen a more beautiful place than Versailles.

    1. Well I'm glad to see that VA escaped the worst of the great storm and tornadoes of the last 24 hours ! I hope the winds will be kind to all there. (Especially our three grandbabies in Roanoke !)

    1. Indeed. That would explain the fireplace hearths into which you can walk !

  5. Well, it was my humble opinion... Versailles is too big, too golden, too much of everything! ;-)

    1. I guess you could say the royalty was not known for its subtlety ! I have to remind myself that the artists and craftsman really benefited from these châteaux... and try to forget the misery of the common people who really paid for them.
