City Daily Photo Theme Day - "Revolution"

On the grounds of Clos Lucé, many of Leonardo Da Vinci's inventions have been realized as models that kids can explore and operate.  In this example, these energetic and charming* kids are turning the wheel to make the screw above rotate.  Leonardo's design for a helicopter was not implemented in his time and, according to engineering analysis, it would not have flown.  In any case, the first helicopter to fly in 1936 can still point to this 500 year old design as its inspiration.

Many of Da Vinci's designs and inventions could be considered revolutionary.  And this one actually revolves so this photo has several connections to today's City Daily Photo Theme "revolution".  To see how the other CDP bloggers interpreted this theme click here.

*OK I confess.  These are two of my grandkids.

  2. Cool interpretation! I did not know the modern day helicopter can be traced all the way back to Da Vinci. Interesting! I love the involvement of the kids in your pic.

  3. His was a mind ahead of its time. You could take Leonardo out of his own time, put him in another, and within a week he'd be thriving with new ideas and concepts. A terrific choice for the theme!

  4. Great choice for this month's theme - double revolution! And how nice that there are models of Da Vinci's work modeled and available to explore (I wouldn't mind giving it a turn or two).
Thanks for visiting Sequim Daily Photo!
