fireworks on the way

We were on our way to our friends' house to celebrate the 4th when these incredibly dark clouds appeared to the west.  Unfortunately the winds were blowing in our direction and this short but intense storm hit the party head on.  We even lost power for awhile.  But fortunately, it passed somewhat quickly, the power came back on, the party continued, and a good time was had by all.  Whew.

  2. Les rapides de la Loire ? Smashing photo (even if you had to use candles for a while, it was worth it!)

    1. About as rapid as they get, I suppose. It's pretty shallow at this spot and that causes the water to be a bit turbulent. Anyway, as far as losing power, it turned out to be no problem as, you might expect, this American party started around 6 pm and there was still plenty of light even with the dark clouds.

    1. If you were here, wouldn't you still celebrate Canada day ?! Having said that, this was the first real party we've attended on the fourth. Usually, we just make our own hamburgers and fries !

  5. So long as you had an indoor space to retreat to to watch the storm pass over!
And, no I don't think I would celebrate Canada Day if I lived in another country. (I didn't, actually when I lived in England)

    1. Fortunately, the hosts have a home big enough for everyone inside. They did set up some tables and music outside but they were clever enough to also have set up some rain protection.
