CDP Theme day for July - "upside down"

This fair ride from last spring, is designed to turn you upside down and inside out.  Four brave passengers are installed at either end of this huge beast.  The seats can freely rotate 360° so if the timing is right you can be travelling straight down upside down.  If I remember correctly, it's almost 50 meters / 150 feet tall and riders experience multiple G-forces.  I was happy to take a picture of it.

The first of every month is Theme Day for the bloggers of City Daily Photo.  To see how they interpreted this theme, take a look here.

And here another view of it in action.  By this time it started to rain so the lens got some raindrops, but you get the idea.

  6. These are the kinds of rides I adored as a child, but that was a long time ago. Now I wouldn't even go near it and rides like these. I just read your comment on my blog about vertigo; terrible isn't it?! Glad yours is gone. Had it first in January, which lasted 5 days; this time I cannot seem to shake it. Scary because of the possibility of drop-falls. Did you see the golfer, Jason Day, fall because of vertigo during the recent US Open? Glad you posted on my blog so I can now follow yours!

    1. If you're still suffering from it, I would definitely recommend you search YouTube videos for it. I see there are now tons of 'em out there. I remember trying several slightly different ones until I found one that worked reliably for me. It does take some practice but once I figured it out it worked great. It seems so amazing that such a little thing can cause such vertigo. Likewise amazing it can be dealt with so easily. Good luck!

  8. Wow. I doubt that I could've even taken a photo of this fair ride because I would've immediately felt as if I were falling and/or spinning. Yet, I wonder. I wear acupressure bracelets called SeaBands for my everyday vertigo. Would they have helped with this amount of motion, mixed with the height of the game? Hmmm.

  9. Not exactly my style of fun, Stuart! I would be wearing my insides on the outside, very quickly indeed.
