On Monday, the water level of the Loire was quite low exposing this large area of sand and small rocks worn smooth by years of water washing over them. In the background are the Leclerc bridge and the château. It will be a different scene by weekend after five days of rain when I expect this will be mostly if not entirely under water again.
Been raining in Haninge all week. Come the weekend 12 000 athletes will take part in the big Orienteering event here. It will be a wet run in the forests!
ReplyDeleteWow. 12000 competitors is amazing. Are you one of them?
DeleteGreat perspective in this shot, Stuart.
ReplyDeleteHere it's been unsettled since the weekend, with hail yesterday.
It would not be a good time for hail here now. I doubt all of the grapes have yet been harvested.
DeleteGoodness the water level really is low.. how long without rain would it take to get like this Stuart? Somehow I never expect the rivers in Europe to ever get so low, here yes because of the severe heat in summer, but there?
ReplyDeleteThe Loire is very shallow (yet wide) at Amboise, so it doesn't take an extraordinary amount of dryness or rain to change things dramatically.
Deletei like the way you photographed it and i love that you named it pebble beach!
ReplyDeleteThe sand traps are great... the greens, not so much.
DeleteNo, but I will be there with my camera.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to it.
