the purple shutters

I really like the color and the overall symmetry of this window and its shutters that I snapped in downtown Amboise.  That little dark "shield" just to the right is a marker indicating how high it is above sea level.  These are subtly place all over town.  I suppose it has something to do with flood planning, but that is just a guess.

    1. Hmmm. Probably not so much of Florence but at least a nice side street in Amboise.

  2. I shall have to see if there are any of those plaques in Blois.

    1. I would bet there are some. Or maybe Blois is high enough not to flood.

  3. Thank you for taking me back to this beautiful French region this year, Stuart. I am hoping to seeing more of Amboise in 2014.

These purple shutters are delightful, and not too common, certainly.

    1. Thanks. Both the shutter style and color are a bit unusual for Amboise.

  5. A very eyecatching image, Stuart. The wood and stone compliment each other well.

    1. Thanks, William. That's what I love so much about European architecture... the wood and stone. It never looks old, just classic.
