Limeray

Limeray is a small town (around 1200 inhabitants) about 15 minutes from Amboise by bicycle.  This was rush hour last Wednesday.  OK, I'm kidding of course but there really isn't much car traffic through here and it is a wonderful place to ride a bike as these guys can attest.

  1. It's a pretty town and the wine co-op is worth visiting, not to mention all the individual growers/producers around town.

    1. Yeah, I haven't visited the producers around there but I have tasted their wines at the cave underneath the château in Amboise. One day I'll make the rounds.

  2. A quiet little village life. I love the "lantern" high up and this empty street is a bikers dream. Concerning my Namibian childhood , only 12 years ago, I am 24 still a youngster, it was great we lived with bushmen and I learned to recognize animal traces and a multitude of noises, signs and even had a second bushman mama. And the landscape in Namibia is just breathtaking, I realized that already as a child. Now life has changed, not in a better way! A propos Limeray is a beautiful name do you know its origin ?

    1. That sounds like a fantastic experience... way beyond what most people ever see. I led a pretty sheltered childhood by comparison. Anyway, life moves on... and here we are trying to deal with it for better or worse.
I had to surf on the internet (as usual) to find the origin of this little town's name and it appears it simply goes back to the name of a landowner dating back to Gallic times. And yes, Limeray and its surroundings are great place to cycle.

    1. Yes, and here the drivers are much more considerate of cyclists that what I was used to before.
