Although I have seen old fishing boats like this on the Loire before, I have not seen one in Amboise until this week. This is typical of boats working on the Loire which have a flat bottom in order to navigate the shallow waters.
I can just imagine you whipping out your camera quick smart to get this fab shot Stuart :) It certainly is an unusual design but the shallow bottom makes complete sense to me.
This is an incredible photo. The fisher boat looks as reappearing from already far away times. And what a great reflection you captured.

Thanks, Tess. It does look from far away times, but it looks to be still functional. At least I hope so.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Grace. It probably wasn't so unusual in the past.
DeleteI've always been very fond of these boats. Looks good in monochrome.
ReplyDeleteYeah the B&W felt like the right treatment here.
DeleteThanks, I figured if it's an old scene, it should be in B&W.
ReplyDeleteThat's incredibly shallow in the water...
ReplyDeleteIn the summer, one can almost walk across the Loire here. I say almost because while it's not deep, it's still dangerous.
DeleteI was thinking along the same lines as William - hoping no rogue wave comes by!
ReplyDeleteIt would have to be quite the rogue on this gentle river !
