tall grasses - part 2


As mentioned earlier, here is another tall grass that I found near the Loire in January.  This time, after checking on the internet, I think this is commonly called pampas grass (cortaderia selloana).  Its bright whiteness really stands out against a blue sky.

  1. Definitely pampas grass Stuart.. There was a time when it was very popular as a decorative feature in a tall vase, back in the 90's I think.. it looks much better like this :)

  2. Pampas grass for sure. A horror vision in a vase, but very beautiful out in your nature pic. And a a special gift the blue sky.

  3. Because of the bare tree, this doesn't look as much as a summer picnic than the other one. I've heard that these are invasive, I wonder if it's true...

    1. Well, I just googled that question, and apparently the state of California thinks so ! They're apparently replacing a lot of local plants there. Why is nothing simple !?
