As mentioned earlier, here is another tall grass that I found near the Loire in January. This time, after checking on the internet, I think this is commonly called pampas grass (cortaderia selloana). Its bright whiteness really stands out against a blue sky.
It certainly does. Beautiful shot.
ReplyDeleteThanks, William.
DeleteDefinitely pampas grass Stuart.. There was a time when it was very popular as a decorative feature in a tall vase, back in the 90's I think.. it looks much better like this :)
ReplyDeleteOh I remember people doing that in the States back in the 70's !
DeletePampas grass for sure. A horror vision in a vase, but very beautiful out in your nature pic. And a a special gift the blue sky.

Thanks Tess. I may be running out of them soon (the blue skies) ! It's been really grey here recently.
DeleteBecause of the bare tree, this doesn't look as much as a summer picnic than the other one. I've heard that these are invasive, I wonder if it's true...
ReplyDeleteWell, I just googled that question, and apparently the state of California thinks so ! They're apparently replacing a lot of local plants there. Why is nothing simple !?
DeleteYou can really tell which way the wind is blowing!
ReplyDeleteYep. Like wind socks !
