the protector of the Manoir Saint Thomas

This fellow sits atop the roof of a hotel in "downtown" Amboise.  Hopefully he's not scaring off potential clients.

I read online that the site dates back to the 12th century as a priory.  The exterior walls have just been cleaned up and it really looks fabulous in the bright sunshine.  Here is a little wider view of his perch:

  4. It made me think of how cats love to sit on the roof and look out over their territory , only a little fiercer looking :)

  5. Oh I love this. He seems to be a fine 'observateur' of what happens around. Still blue skies over Amboise.

    1. Yeah, I love to climb up on high places and look down. Not that I can control what I see but even so I like getting the "big picture". We have been really lucky with the blue skies this year. As you will see.

  8. Nice close up! I love these kinds of carvings. I think they add personality (griffon-ality?) to buildings.
