the fountain at Place Général Leclerc
I went to see a photo exhibition in nearby Tours last week. Passing through Place Général Leclerc from the train station, I snapped this photo of a wonderful fountain in the middle of the plaza. Glass panels form the shape of an upside down boat hull and are sprayed by water jets from all directions. I think it has a certain Jules Verne feel to it. What makes it even more interesting is that it sits atop an underground parking garage; from there one can look up to see the light coming through the glass while the water slides down the sides.

How beautiful. I can imagine many things.
ReplyDeleteA giant jellyfish or an Anthozoa ,but just the water is a splendour.

I find watching it to be mesmerizing. The water flowing down those smooth glass walls is so soothing.
DeleteIt's strange, because the panels don't look as though they are glass but metal. I guess it's the light. Very original.
ReplyDeleteAt night, it is lit from underneath and then you can really see the value of the glass.
DeleteVery cool Stuart.. did you have time to check it out from underneath?
ReplyDeleteI didn't have time this trip but I have seen it on previous trips. I do not have a good photo of it from underneath, so I will try to remember to get one next time. Hold that thought.
DeleteIt's unusual, and spectacular!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've not seen anything quite like it elsewhere.
DeleteI'd like something like this in Versailles!
