les feuilles mortes

Today's title recalls a famous French tune by the same name from the 1940's (the words are from a poem by French poet Jacques Prévert and it was first performed by Yves Montand).  In 1947 Johnny Mercer wrote English lyrics and it has become the pop/jazz standard "Autumn Leaves".

  1. They take on a completely different look when frosted over like this.

  2. The very crinkly leaf near the upper right provides just the right touch of a contrast of texture, and the dulled colors help to put the focus on all the folds and veins in the leaves. Beautifully captured, Stuart! Penny
