This old abandoned factory is just across the Loire from greater downtown Amboise. The bottom level is being used for storage, but otherwise this old building is no longer used (that I can see). I admit I love these old buildings with their pipes, conveyors, and loading chutes. It looks to me like an art deco era design, but I really don't know. I would love to know the history of this site.
I was lucky to catch this scene on a cold and windy day in November. But at least the sun was out in full before a huge front moved in that afternoon.
It does look like an interesting design for a factory.
ReplyDeleteYes, very different from most of the local architecture.
DeleteMaybe if you ask around au café du coin... I don't know about art déco but it certainly looks like something built between the wars.
ReplyDeleteIt bears some resemblance to some other co-op type buildings in the area. One of them (in Onzain) actually has the date 1937 on the building so I do believe you are correct.
DeleteThere are probalby big silos in the building, , and probably still used for cereals storage...
ReplyDeleteMan, I would love to go inside some day. I'll bet it is a treasure trove of photos !
DeleteI love old factories. Never having worked in one, I am always trying to figure out how all the pipes and silos and jutting out bits are actually used. This one does look art deco.
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree. They are interesting studies in basic forms.
