Our family is visiting from the States this week, so in spite of the threatening rain we visited the château at Chenonceau. It was interesting to see the Chancellery in the garden of Diane de Poitiers where the wisteria had been trimmed significantly. Of course it is quite bare in winter anyway, but compare with
this photo from June.
My favorite château in the Loire valley. The wisteria is waiting for some sunshine The Chancellery is a beautiul building and I love the chimneys.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter week end and des poules et cloches en chocolat. Enjoy !

Yes, it is my favorite as well. Les trois petits-enfants sont en attente pour les cloches (moi aussi)!
DeleteQuite a difference, but as image I prefer this one.
ReplyDeleteOne can certainly see the building better now.
DeleteI remember loving The Chancellery then and it looks just as special here, in a wintery kind of way. It's a charming building Stuart. Have fun with the family, happy Easter.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It is great having them here in Amboise (and Paris).
DeleteWe have the same type. It is most stunning from about mid-April to mid-May so you should try and visit then. It has to be pruned quite drastically for it to have lots of flowers.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that the pruning leads to more flowers. The same was done on the buildings in the 16th century farm area.
DeleteStuart that is the most stunning house, I love the picture with the wisteria as well
ReplyDeleteIt really is an amazing place.
DeleteIt's a beautiful place. I imagine trimming that vinery and plant life back is essential for the building.
