Always take your camera to the Post Office

The other day I went to the Post Office (LaPoste as it is called here), and something told me to take my camera with me.  Well, as I'm coming out, what do I find but a "parade" of horse and buggies.  Actually, it had more of an appearance of folks learning how to drive the buggies.  In any case, as it is said in the States (thanks to an old credit card commercial), "don't leave home without it".

    1. And they didn't seem to mind the cold so much. Note that you can see their breaths.

  2. Had the fur on their ankles been white, I might have expected a beer!

    1. Well I almost went that route with the commentary, but I wasn't sure how many (non-American) folks would get the joke !

  3. Yes, that is quite a basic rule for a blogger.

    Gorgeous draught horses.

  4. I express the rule as 'never go to the boulangerie without your camera', but it has to be said, mostly I forget.

Ever since I gave up riding I've fancied learning to carriage drive, but I fear the expense is probably as great or more, so have never committed myself.

I'd love to have a clapped out Comptois or similar retired working horse for grazing the orchard, but the logistics are tricky, and again I don't feel I can commit myself.

    1. I try to always take at least my pocket camera but this time I actually took the SLR. You're right about the commitment. I suspect owning horses is close to a full time job. It's probably better, like with gardens, to have a friend with one.

    1. No, they're too small to be Clydesdales but they certainly have the same look.
