There are several fabulous and different gardens at château Chenonceau. This one is named in honor of Catherine de Medici who moved into the château around 1560. This was after her husband and King Henri II died and then after kicking out the mistress of her deceased husband. On the other hand, the mistress, Diane de Poitiers, got
château Chaumont as a consolation prize. Another garden at Chenonceau is named for her.
Nice touch to give a château to the mistress. That is what I would have done as well. Nice Summer view of the garden and the château.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's good to be the king... or the mistress apparently.
DeleteThat is absolutely fabulous chateau and it's a very nicely composed picture ...
ReplyDeleteI like the way the French treat their mistresses:) Beautiful château, tres joli pink roses.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful white casttle.
ReplyDeleteIt's been years since I've been to Chenonceau (or Chaumont for that matter!) Lovely with the roses!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful !
ReplyDeleteIt must be hard to keep track of the mistresses and then there are their gardens as well!
ReplyDeleteOh they have "people" to take of those little details.
