These trees are not called mimosa in French. Mimosa have yellow flowers. These have another name, but I can't remember it right now.

It is called a mimosa after all — mimosa de Constantinople, among other names. But the French mimosa tree has yellow flowers. We called the Albizia "mimosa" in coastal Carolina USA too.
Yeah, the southeast US has great mimosas. I grew up with one in our front yard and it made a lasting impression. Thanks for the precision of names.
