low flying

It's not been a good year for the hot air balloon companies this year.  At least, not according to the number of them we've seen overhead.  But in recent weeks, they seem to be making up for lost time.  This one was flying very low right over our house and I "shot" it right from our terrace.  It was probably less than two hundred feet/meters overhead. The roar of the flame is quite impressive at that distance.

    1. Not yet. It's a tad expensive for us retirees. But I'm hoping to hitch a ride in the future on some special occasion.

  3. Always fun shots these. A tighter crop perhaps?

    1. Well, I considered that but I thought this time I would leave like this to show it a little more isolated in full frame. Or was I just lazy !?

  5. You catched the perfect moment for a perfect shot. Never took a flight on a Montgolfière but I would love. This photo is wonderful !

    1. It's not for the faint of heart ! But otherwise a magical tour (or so I understand).

  6. I tend to notice them more in the fall here, maybe because the time of sunset, which is a popular time to go up, is a time I tend to be out.

    1. I think it's because the winds are more stable at sunrise and sunset.
