I have always loved ginkos for their leaf shape and their brilliant golden color in the fall. Here's a tree that looks out over the Loire and appears to be very content with that.
Unfortunately, I was not able to capture it in full sun during its peak.
I have heard of these trees but we don't have them here.
ReplyDeleteIt contrasts well with the building in the second shot.
As I said at the end, I wish I could have gotten a shot in the full sun (like the individual leaves in the frirst shot). The contrast would have been even greater.
DeleteI don't think I've seen many but then I'm not much good at recognising trees. :-( Pretty!
ReplyDeleteFrom a distance, they don't really distinguish themselves from others when they're green. But in the fall, they really stand out.
DeleteIt's a little like the sun itself Stuart, wonderful colour. I do like your first image so much, it has a very Japanese feel to it..Sitting by the bank of the Loire would make me content also :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about the Japanese feel. The ginko has been a significant Japanese motif for a very long time. One that appeals to me in a big way.
DeleteBeautiful leaves indeed and wonderful warm color on a stunning tree. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks ! I guess it's obvious how much I like these trees.
DeleteI love them too. They are always a nice shape and the leaves are lovely. Their only downside is if you have female, with their stinky fruit.
ReplyDeleteAlas that is the case. I guess nobody's perfect.
DeleteA very nice posting:)
ReplyDeleteNice blog too.
I´ll be back!
Greetings from Stavanger Daily Photo. (Also on fb.)
