Blois

On Tuesday I went for a 10-hour bike ride with some of my neighbors in Amboise... 112 KM / 70 miles along the Loire river from Orléans to Amboise (we took the train to Orléans in the morning).  Needless to say, I am still recovering as I have not been riding anywhere near that distance for many years.  Anyway, I did get a few snaps that I'll be posting starting with this one of the city of Blois.  That's the cathédral Saint-Louis de Blois in the center.  Most of the ride was on either bike trails or roads with very little traffic.  Bike tourism has developed into a major commercial resource for this area and I can see why.

  2. Excellent photo of "our" cathedral in Blois. I would have been on my knees (literally) after 112 km which is twice what we consider to be our maximum daily ride! Unfortunately, there is no bike path on our side of the river but I'm hoping to change that one day.

    1. There is a path (mostly) from Onzain to Amboise (OK... to Pocé but anyway)... So all you need to do is work on is the Onzain to Blois section!

  3. I know that view well. A former friend of mine used to live just there.

    1. It was a great view. Alas, on our time schedule we did not have time to stop and absorb it. Hopefully, on another, shorter ride.

    1. I hope you have recovered. I'm sure it was for a good cause. Plus you are justified in having the biggest dish of ice cream ever.

    1. Since you are an avid rider, and not to mention much younger, you would find this route pretty easy. It's almost entirely flat as it follows the Loire. It was definitely fun... just a bit more fun than I'm used to !
