Candé-sur-Beuvron

Here's the last blog stop on my virtual tour of the bike ride of last week, Candé-sur-Beuvron (of course Amboise was the last stop on the real tour).  Going down a rather steep hill, I had to hit the brakes hard after seeing this red door against the white church and blue sky.

  1. Nice shot and good colors, Stuart.

Now for something completely off topic. I left you this comment on French Girl in Seattle's blog post about expats and the foods of their native countries:

Stuart, you need to find the Paris Store imported foods shop (mostly Asian foods) over in Tours Nord. Okra (often but not always), pinto beans, black-eyed peas, corn meal, headed frozen shrimp etc. etc. And hushpuppies are so easy to make at home. I have recipes on my blog.

Also, there is a little grocery store in Blois called Asia Store that has a lot of the same imported products (watch out: cash or check only). Finally, the Grand Frais specialty supermarket in the south Blois suburb of Vineuil is another place to find "exotic" vegetables like okra (des gombos in French) and other imported food products.

    1. Thanks for the tips, Ken. I will save them for now as I am still studying for my French driver's license (plus we don't have a car). We manage well in Amboise since we can walk to just about everything we need (but not always everything we'd like to have). But it's good to know these places are out there. And one day we'll check them out.

  2. This red door is an eye catcher and really inviting to look inside. A stunning blue sky. We need nothing more. Yes thanks you can wish me happy birthday I was born 3 times. The day my mother brought me on earth, the day a safety crew took me out after 8 hours struggle, a car crashed into me on my way to university and I was stuck against a wall and the car. A miracle that I survived and the 3rd time now with my brand new leg. Life goes on and honeymoon too lol.

    1. What a horror that must have been. You have an amazing story. But you have survived... and now you will flourish! May the honeymoon never end.

  3. Good photo. We often go past that church on the bike route through Candé but I had never noticed the red door!

    1. Yeah, that steeple is a bit unusual (at least to me).
