the canal project

I happened upon this project on a little "island" in the Loire that has been exposed by the dry weather this summer.  I'm envisioning a budding young civil engineer spending his or her afternoon digging this rather complicated series of canals and ponds.  And I'm wondering if this youngster is from the middle east as, to me, the central design resembles a recumbent camel.  Bon weekend, tout le monde.
