This is one of several homes in Amboise that I have waited a long time to catch without a car parked right in front. I'm still waiting for several others. I think the arched doors and doorways are very cool.
I did not know that term, "crocodile facing" but it sure is a good description. I totally agree. I'd rather have it just plain. And yes, those cars can be a real pain... whether parked or in motion.
I think you should suggest the town adopt a car free day in August - when all cars must leave town and the streets are free for strolling.
and no, the hotel is not my new digs - we quite like where we are now and anyway occupancy isn't until 2016, far too long to wait (for me - I'm impatient!)
And windows too!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely !
DeleteYes, I like the arched doors and window but am not keen on the crocodile facing. Cars are such as nuisance, aren't they?

DeleteI just made up crocodile facing. I doubt if it's a real term.
DeleteWell, it sounded good to me ! Maybe you have just coined a new term.
DeleteLovely house, must be an interesting arrangement of levels inside judging by the window heights.
ReplyDeleteGood observation. It does look unusual. Maybe if I'm really lucky I'll get a glimpse in one of the front doors one day.
DeleteIt's a place with real character!
ReplyDeleteFor sure. I haven't seen another one like it.

That's a great idea. I'm sure they'll gladly take the advice of an American newcomer !
ReplyDeleteThere's no shortage of shapes in this image Stuart.. Tres jolie!
ReplyDeleteYou're not kidding. A very complicated facade.
