the stairs

These old stairs now appear to be serving more as a planter.  Works for me.

  2. So pretty . Makes me wonder how often people went up and downstairs over the years. The stairs look so old and the flowers fit perfectly to give them a new life.

    1. It's pretty common in this area for homes to have stairs on the outside (instead of on the inside). I agree that it's hard to guess how long it takes human footsteps to wear down stone to this extent. But I like your idea of giving them new life via flowers. Bonne journée, Tess !

  3. Considering how they're now sagging, it's probably a good idea! I was very sad when I realised that the pretty moss and flowers on our 400-year old staircase were causing it to deteriorate. Now it's vegetation-free!

  6. They don't look safe enough to step on anymore, so this is a good use for them.

  7. A part of me wants to tear these down and replace with proper steps. But then the flowers would be disturbed.

    1. I'm sure you know the expression, wallpapering over you problems. This approach is a whole lot easier.
